Okay, Here's Part II of the Gnomes Installment

Aurora Borealis/Australis (Northern/Southern Lights):
Having seen the principles concerning light in gnome theory this northern spectacle can now be explained. Gnomes become blind when they stay too long with the gnomes in the sun (because their clothing is really bright). They thus tend to get lost when the sun gnomes let go of them. Some of these blind gnomes accidently attach their ropes to earth, and are thus pulled towards it (see Gravity).

When they reach the gnomes in the upper 'atmosphere' of the earth they realise that they're not the only gnomes in the universe and so have a tiny party/celebration. During this festive time the gatherings round the north and south of the earth have access to changes of clothes (e.g. from Santa). They take advantage of this wardrobe and the changing of clothes makes us perceive a colourful oscillating light in the sky.

Mobile Phones:

'Scientists' may try and fool you with talk of 'waves', but please dont believe these distacting and frankly stupid theories. Mobile phones are built (by gnomes) to incorporate a gnome catapault. These devices are worked by gnomes in your mobile phone (which coincidently is made up of gnomes) to fire their gnome freinds upwards when you place a call. The gnomes are fired into space where they land on 'satellites' (also made of gnomes).

The gnome satillites then catapault seperate gnomes to the mobile you are trying to contact (if you are attempting to 'connect' with a land line the gnomes are fired at a landing station where they run and hi-five down wires to the other phone reciever).

When the gnomes reach the reciever you are connecting with there is an exchange of messages, hi-fives and presents (the unwrapping is the crackle you hear). More catapaulting occurs back to the satilite and then to your phone. This process continues so that what you say is 'transmitted' to the other phone and vice-versa (the process is VERY quick, as these gnomes travel at the speed of light-gnomes). A call 'breaks up' or has no 'signal' when the presents exchanged are so good the gnomes dont bother coming back, but just sit and play.

Gnomes make up everything, including food. When we eat, say, a sandwich the gnomes making up the sandwich are digested and travel to our stomach. The stomach gnomes are so pleased to see other gnomes that a party soon gets underway (when you eat too quickly the party gets out of hand very quickly thus causing indigestion).

The party is of course a wild affair, and the beer flows free while the gnomes party hard. The morning after (which in human time is only like 4-6 hours) the clean up begins. The stomach gnomes collect up the rubbish in bin bags. Intestine gnomes (the bin-men of the human body) collect up these bags and take them through the intestine to the... well im sure you can guess.

The bum gnomes then drop these bags of rubbish out of the body (known as a landfill). Different varieties of foods are of course different nationalities of gnomes. Spicy food are Asian gnomes. These gnomes party particularly hard and thus the morning after is particularly bad. They also like to smoke, which is why humans feel 'gaseous effects' after a rather spicy meal.

Gnome food:
Gnomes also need to eat and drink and it can be easily extrapolated from gnomes theory how this occurs. The gnome digestion process occurs as described above but their food is made up of super-gnomes, who party in their stomachs. Of course, super-gnomes are also hungry entities and eat food made up of hyper-gnomes. Due to the fact thay hyper-gnomes are fundamental and can't be broken down into anything smaller they do not need to eat or drink.

As all things are made of gnomes, it follows that even alcohol is made of gnomes. These are without doubt the rowdiest of all gnomes (except anti-gnomes). Alcohol gnomes divide into several groups. The first type look kindly and loving (which they indeed are) but have a stupendous sense of humour and love to play practical jokes. They will quickly travel to the brain gnomes upon arrival in the body and will wreak havoc with the head region; taking other gnomes clothes while they are in the shower, throwing eggs at nearby gnomes and the like. This causes the brain gnomes to become distracted, so the body doesnt work as efficiently as normal running. The senses become distorted (e.g. vision) and the human seems to think they are invincible, and the other sex is more attractive. Wine is mostly made up of these gnomes and Females are particularly succeptable to this type.

The next type are Beer (subdivided into Ale and lager subspecies) gnomes. These gnomes produce similar effects to the wine gnomes (especially if mixed - gnomes love to party) but through different methods. These gnomes (instead of being fun loving) are dangerous and enjoy getting in fights. They will provoke and cause violence against the gnomes in your brain, and swear loudly. They will push over desks and generally cause havoc. This is again why your senses become distorted etc. The last type of alcahol gnomes are 'spirit' gnomes (who are NOT supernatural). These type of gnomes are really sneaky and cunning.

They can very quickly (for they are quite strong and obviously quick) infiltrate the gnome office of the brain and begin to sneakily alter the brain gnomes work. They will send fake emails (to the amusmant of the wine gnomes), cause brain gnomes to work on useless tasks and generally ensure the brain gnomes cannot do there job. These again cause ill effects to your bodies ability to work (normally).
I was so bored, i decided to do a quiz! (anyone wants the link? msn me!)

Your view on yourself:
You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:
You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.

Your views on education
Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:
You have plenty of dream jobs but have little chance of doing any of them if you don't focus on something in particular. You need to choose something and go for it to be happy and achieve success.

How do you view success:
You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.

What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of having no one to rely on in times of trouble. You don't ever want to be unable to take care of yourself. Independence is important to you.

Who is your true self:
You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

It's not's..Gnomes?!

okay, i received this in my email and found it totally amusing..give it a read! (Part II will be up soon)

Inside cables there are hundreds of tiny gnomes 'high-fiving' each other and running around swapping messages. This transfer of messages allows things to work, e.g. the gnomes in a plug socket tell the gnomes in the wire, who eventually tell the gnomes in (say) a kettle to fart in the water allowing it to boil.

Computers are run by tiny gnomes. They do all the work sat at tiny desks inside your PC. When you turn it off they can all go home and have a rest before they are needed again. The screen is in fact an arrangement of gnomes wearing different colour hats.

Atoms are infact miniscule gnomes, all holding hands and feet etc together to form an intricate web from which nearly everything in this universe is comprised of. Radioactivity occurs when a rebel gnome is catapaulted by his friends from their structure. Should this gnome come into contact with the gnomes from our body, he will offer them beer, thus making the local area benign or 'cancerous'.

A solid is a closely compacted arrangement of gnomes, all holding hands, hats and legs. Heating (see Energy) causes the gnomes to becoming excited (or 'tickled'). This means they start to lose a grip on their neighbours; thus becoming a liquid. When the gnomes become tickled 'pink' they just can no longer hold on and float away (in groups upwards of one) becoming a 'Gas'.

As we are all well aware gnomes like the ground. They all strive to be in the ground, and this is where the basic theory for gravity comes from. Gnomes throw tiny (obviously unseen to the human eye) ropes to the ground. These ropes attach to unseen hooks allowing the gnomes to pull themsleves towards the ground. There is minimal gravity away from bodies (e.g. in space) because very few gnomes have long enough ropes. All bodies have a gravitional attraction to each other because gnomes are sociable creatures and enjoy large gatherings.

If you think about it, its quite obvious really. The gnomes that make up our eyes can see what colour other gnomes making up, say a table, are wearing. They then hi-five gnomes in our 'optical nerve' who run to tell the brain gnomes what has been seen. This makes us think we are seeing things when infact it is all gnomes.

Now this is a little more complicated. There are evil gnomes. These make up anti-matter. Done.

All types of energy are trasferred through gnomes. Heat is just gnomes rubbing other gnomes. Potential energy is when gnomes dont want to be seperated (see 'Gravity'). Kinetic energy is the movement of gnomes. Energy is allways conserved so fundamental gnomes (see below) are only ever transfered and never made or destroyed.

So what are gnomes made up of themselves? They are surely not fundamental? They are comprised of billions of even smaller gnomes. These smaller gnomes are known as 'Super-gnomes'. Super-gnomes are made up of billions of even smaller gnomes known as 'Hyper-Gnomes'. Hyper-gnomes are the fundamental building block of everything.

Part II soon...=)

Cry on My Shoulder

I absolutely love this's my gift to all who read this blog, yes, I'll be there for you if any of you need a shoulder to cry on. Have a merry christmas everyone! =)

Cry on My Shoulder

If the hero, never comes to you
If you need someone, you’re feeling blue
If you wait for love, and you’re alone
If you call your friends, nobody’s home
You can run away, but you can’t hide
Through a storm and through a lonely night
Then I’ll show you there’s a destiny
The best things in life, they are free

But if you wanna cry: cry on my shoulder
If you need someone, who cares for you
If you’re feeling sad, your heart gets colder
Yes I show you what real love can do

If your sky is grey oh let me know
There’s a place in heaven, where we’ll go
If heaven is a million years away
Oh just call me and I’ll make your day
When the nights are getting cold and blue
When the days are getting hard for you
I will always stay by your side
I promise you, I’ll never hide

But if you wanna cry: cry on my shoulder
If you need someone, who cares for you
If you’re feeling sad, your heart gets colder
Yes I show you what real love can do

But if you wanna cry: cry on my shoulder
If you need someone, who cares for you
If you’re feeling sad, your heart gets colder
Yes I show you what real love can do

I attract...Geeks?!

okay..Any geeks wanna sign up? lol =)

What type of person do you attract?
Your Result: You attract geeks!

Your stunning intellect and love of sci-fi and video games allures the geeks like nothing else. Maybe it is the sparkle in your eye that makes them want to text you, who knows. Geeks make good partners, but tend to be arguementative. If you are a TRUE geek magnet, you will know if that was spelled correctly, and actually care. If it is a bad-boy/bad-girl you are seeking, you are barking up the wrong tree, unless they are just 'bad' behind a PS2 console.

You attract Yuppies!
You attract artsy people!
You attract unstable people!
You attract models!
You attract rednecks!
What type of person do you attract?

One Art

I love this poem, and I would love to share it with all who read this blog.
This poem doesn't mean it's easy to lose, but it's better to detach oneself
when you know acknowledging the pain will be worse.
We see the poet trying not to sound too sad. The fierce repetition of the line
"the art of losing's not hard
to master" makes you wonder how far and
fast she's had to lose.

One Art

The art of losing isn't hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.

Lose something every day.
Accept the fluster of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn't hard to master.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.

I lost my mother's watch.
And look! my last, or next-to-last, of three loved houses went.
The art of losing isn't hard to master.

I lost two cities, lovely ones.
And, vaster, some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn't a disaster.

---Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture
I love) I shan't have lied. It's evident
the art of losing's not too hard to master
though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster.

-- Elizabeth Bishop

Sorry to those who read this little place here. Please bear with the silence a little while more, I'm trying to sort out my photos from my holiday!

PS: since Christmas is coming, here's one of my favourite Christmas songs!

When Christmas Comes to Town

La, la, la, la.....

I'm wishing on a star
And trying to believe
That even though it's far
He'll find me Christmas Eve

I guess that Santa's busy
Cause he's never come around
I think of him
When Christmas Comes to Town

The best time of the year
When everyone comes home
With all this Christmas cheer
It's hard to be alone

Putting up the Christmas tree
With friends who come around
It's so much fun
When Christmas Comes to Town

Presents for the children
Wrapped in red and green
All the things I've heard about
But never really seen

No one will be sleeping on
The night of Christmas Eve
Hoping Santa's on his way

[Repeat previous two paragraphs]

When Santa's sleigh bells ring
I listen all around
The herald angels sing
I never hear a sound

When all the dreams of children
Once lost will all be found
That's all I want
When Christmas Comes to Town

That's all I want
When Christmas Comes to Town

Fly Away

alritey, there are some mistakes in the lyrics, will rectify it when I've settled down after the flight =)

Fly Away

Hey there little baby won't you try your rise?
You tell me what I wanna know
You said your talent's ten, baby pushed around
You hitting down to Mexico

Tell me do you still in that same bikini
That you worn in sixty-five
You know that one more of those than other bands
The one that make me feel alive

If your daddy ask where've been you are
What am I supposed to do?
You just tell him the whole world pass me by
I ain't got nothing left to prove

I've been to fly fly fly away
If our love is strong
We would never go wrong
Coz that's the place to be
Baby bye bye bye baby
If you ever come down
We're still from around
Watch the sunset to the sea

Has that little black bird sit on the roof
Where did my baby go
You said something's life have thrown you off track
The way we ain't got never know

If your daddy ask where've been you are
What am I supposed to say?
You are telling em the whole world's passed me by
Could I live my life my own way

I've been to fly fly fly away
If our love is strong
We would never go wrong
Coz that's the place to be
Baby bye bye bye baby
If you ever come down
We're still from around
Watch the sunset to the sea

You've seen the pictures
Are we dancing all night long
You dress in that you used to be
Long long gown

So baby you fly fly fly away
If our love is strong
We would never go wrong
Coz that's the place to be
Baby bye bye bye baby
If you ever come down
We're still from around
Watch the sunset to the sea
Fly fly fly away
If our love is strong
We would never go wrong
Coz that's the place to be
Baby bye bye bye baby
If you ever come down
We're still from around
Watch the sunset to the sea

Watch the sunset to the sea

Time to Get Packing!

Yes, I'll be leaving for a trip come Monday! (and yes, I haven't really packed!, okay so far I've gotten out two shirts, one pair of jeans, two formal shirts and one sweater) I just realised I have to fill my mp3 player with tons of songs so I have some music that I actually enjoy onboard and during transit. (and yes, food)

On the bright side, I'll have internet access over there so I guess I'll be able to blog about my trip and put up photos! Now all I gotta do is to endure the trip there and back -_-

Okay, back to packing =(

Gosh, i had to restart my laptop...four times just to get the wireless working properly. I think I seriously need help with this, I can't seem to figure what's wrong! I checked through the settings and all, but the connection just 'kills' itself whenever it wants to. Best bit? after that happens, I can't detect any networks after that.

Any kind soul able to help me with this? (pleaseeeeeee?) My laptop's still new (only slightly over a month old) =(
Do email me, contact me on msn, leave a comment etc! I'll need it to work properly so I can use it during my trip to Glasgow =(

Love Story

Okay, while I'm running out of love, here's something for those who read this sad little blog, hopefully it fills your heart with some sort of warm, fuzzy feeling (if that's what love is supposed to feel like)

PS: do stop the blog song first! =)

"Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale.".... Hans Christian Andersen

Love Story

We were both young when I first saw you
I closed my eyes and the flashback starts
I'm standing there
On a balcony in summer air

See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns
I see you make your way through the crowd
And say hello
Little did I know

That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles
And my daddy said, "stay away from Juliet"
And I was crying on the staircase
Begging you, please don't go
And I said

Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story
Baby, just say yes

So, I sneak out to the garden to see you
We keep quiet cause we're dead if they knew
So close your eyes
Escape this town for a little while

Oh oh
Cause you were Romeo, I was the scarlet letter
And my daddy said, "stay away from Juliet"
But you were my everything to me
I was begging you, please don't go
And I said

Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story
Baby, just say yes

Romeo, save me
They try to tell me how I feel
This love is difficult, but it's real
Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess
It's a love story
Baby, just say yes

Oh oh

I got tired of waiting
Wondering if you were ever coming around
My faith in you is fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town
And I said

Romeo, save me
I've been feeling so alone
I keep waiting for you, but you never come
Is this in my head
I don't know what to think
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring
And said

Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone
I love you and that's all I really know
I talked to your dad
Go pick out a white dress
It's a love story
Baby, just say yes

Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh

'Cause we were both young when I first saw you

Best of Me

(Okay, those who loved Daniel Powter's Next Plane Home, please do not be upset with me for changing the blog's song)

Here's the first track on Under the Radar by Daniel Powter, titled Best of Me. When I first heard this song, the chorus really struck me (except that it was the thought of how girls usually get upset cause it's what the guys did NOT do). Anywho, do take a listen, i think the song really grows on you, feel free to share your thoughts about it (or email me if you wanna). As usual, here are the lyrics for viewing =) .

(ps: I got the lyrics off the internet, but have edited it due to some errors in it)

Best of Me

I was made the wrong way
Won't you do me the right way
Where you gonna be tonight
'cause i won't stay too long

Maybe you're the light for me
When you talk to me it strikes me
Won't somebody help me
'cause i don't feel too strong

Was it something that i said
Was it something that i did
Or the combination of both that did me in

You know i'm hoping you sing along
I know it's not your favorite song
Don't wanna be there when there's nothing left to say
You know that some of us spin again
When you do, you need a friend
Don't wanna be there when there's nothing left for me
And i hate the thought of finally being erased
Baby that's the best of me

Everything's behind you
But the hope still stands beside you
Living in a moment
Have i wasted all your time

Was it something that i said
Was it something that i did
Or the combination i broke that did me in

You know i'm hoping you sing along
I know it's not your favorite song
Don't wanna be there when there's nothing left to say
You know that some of us spin again
When you do, you need a friend
Don't wanna be there when there's nothing left for me
And i hate the thought of finally being erased
Baby that's the best of me
Baby that's the best of me

You know i'm hoping you sing along
I know it's not your favorite song
Don't wanna be there when there's nothing left to say
You know that some of us spin again
When you do, you need a friend
Don't wanna be there when there's nothing left for me
And i hate to thought of finally being erased
Baby that's the best of me

Excerpts from Seventeen

Ways to Tell He'll be a Good Boyfriend

He Makes You Laugh
Laughing at the same jokes means you understand each other on a very deep level - it's like the foundation on which strong relationships are built.

He Confides in You
A guy who tells you things he hides from his friends, like his stress over a bio test, trusts you. He's connecting on a personal level because he wants to strengthen the relationship.

He Asks you Questions
When he takes an active interest in your life, it says that he respects the things that are important to you. He values your opinion and wants you to be an equal in the relationship

He Disagrees with You
A guy who argues a little isn't afraid to be himself around you - he'll never be an annoying lapdog. If he lets you disagree with him, it shows he's a good communicator, which makes it easier to work through any future issues!

A Bag of Cookies

A Bag of Cookies

A women was queueing and waiting to board her flight.
While waiting...she decided to wait in the VIP room instead.
So she purchased a book and a packet of cookies.
She then sat down in the VIP room to read her book.

Beside the arm rest where the pack of cookies were, sat a man.
Whenever the women took a piece of cookie, the man took one too.
The women was angry but decided to let it off since she's in a good mood.
Then she took a second piece of cookie...
The man took his second piece too.
She thought:"This is INFURIATING!!!"
But decided not to pursue the matter.

When the packet was left with the last piece of cookie...
the women thought:"Aha! Whats he gonna do now.."
Amazingly, the man took the last piece of cookie, broke it into half and gave
the other half to the women.
The women was frustrated...she dashed out of the VIP room
and boarded the plane.

When she opened her bag to get some things...
She realised that her packet of cookies was full and untouched!
She was shocked!
And at the same time ashamed of herself.
She had misunderstood that man
because that pack of cookies she just ate doesn't belong to her
but the man still willingly shared his cookies with a stranger without
saying a word.

She wanted to apologise but its impossible
as the man is not taking the same flight as her.
Thus, she never had the chance to do so.

The message behind this story is...
Words said,cannot be taken back.
Time past cannot be turned back.
Water poured out cannot be retrieved.

In life...many unpleasant situations are caused by misunderstandings

Under The Radar

I aboslutely love the new album by Daniel Powter! It's titled Under The Radar, and has really great songs contained in it. Just cause I love this album to bits (and good things should be shared!), I'll be featuring songs from the album weekly on my blog, so if you like to have a listen before deciding to buy the album, do check in here every sunday, and have a listen! (do feel free to comment here or mail me!) The current song playing is Next Plane Home, his first single from the album.

oh yes, here's the lyrics for those who would love to sing along =)

Next Plane Home

I woke up early to baby blue eyes from afar whoah whoah
and when the sun comes through and lights you like the angel you are whoah whoah
I know I do you wrong when I’m with you I’ve been gone

With every season change, it looks the same (november to june) whoah whoah
And don't these empty streets skip a beat the flowers don't bloom whoah whoah

I can’t believe I missed your birthday again
and I wanna come back but I just don’t know when now

And I’m so lonely you're not here with me
That’s why I’m gonna be on the next plane home

The road that never ends around the bend I see your smile whoah whoah
I’d swim across the sea to be with you for a while whoah whoah
cos I’ve made a life of being gone
now the way that I feel I just don’t belong

And I’m so lonely you’re not here with me
thats why I’m gonna be on the next plane home
And you’re you’re the only face I wanna see
thats why I’m gonna be on the next plane home

Stand around try to make every moment
and be somebody yeah anybody
it seems the whole world is taking me over
I need somebody to help me get back to it

and I’ve always been a million miles away
but things are gonna change
I just wanna come home

And you’re you’re the only face I wanna see
thats why I gonna be on the next plane home
yeah I’m taking the next plane home
Now I’m getting the next plane home
Now I’m taking the next plane home

How to Save A Life

you knew and know this is one of my favourite songs, now i'm dedicating this to you..(you know who you are)

Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
And you begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Note to all: This is the acoustic version of the song =)

Can I Borrow $25?

Some food for thought..

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: 'Daddy, may I ask you a question?'

DAD: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the man.

SON: 'Daddy, how much do you make an hour?'

DAD: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the man said angrily.

SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'

DAD: 'If you must know, I make $50 an hour.'

SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.

SON: 'Daddy, may I please borrow $25?'

The father was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.'

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down , and started to think:

Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and he really didn't ask for money very often The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

'Are you asleep, son?' He asked.

'No daddy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.

'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the man. 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $25 you asked for.'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you daddy!' he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.

The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the father grumbled.

'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied.

'Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.'

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness.

Blog author's note:

Sometimes when we get caught up with life, we fail to see things happening around us. This story is a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us and are close to our hearts. Money can be earned anytime, but if you miss out on a loved one's life, you can never earn it back. Do remember to share that $50 worth of your time with someone you love.

Scientists for Better PCR

okay, I know how many of you will probably comment how much of a nerd I am after seeing this video.(pls do pause the blog song first! it's located below the countdown timer on the right =) ) It was made by Bio-Rad for their new 1000-Series Thermal Cyclers.

(PCR: Polymerase chain reaction is a technique widely used to amplify specific regions of DNA,it could be a single gene, a part of a gene, or a non-coding sequence. - basically so scientists have more starting material to work with)

lyrics included below the video!

There was a time when to amplify DNA,
You had to grow tons and tons of tiny cells.

Then along came a guy named Dr. Kary Mullis,
Said you can amplify in vitro just as well.

Just mix your template with a buffer and some primers,
Nucleotides and polymerases, too.

Denaturing, annealing, and extending.
Well it’s amazing what heating and cooling and heating will do.

PCR, when you need to detect mutations.
PCR, when you need to recombine.
PCR, when you need to find out who the daddy is.
PCR, when you need to solve a crime.

(repeat chorus)

Okay, I know I said I'd blog soon, here's something for some thought. Maybe it's just me (or maybe not), but I've never thought the comparison between JCs and Polytechnics was about academic prowess, but more of whether one knew what they wanted.

During my time as a Course Counsellor at my polytechnic's Open House, I'd always gave this advice to students who were unsure on which to pick : If you know surely the career path you want in future,go ahead and pick a course in a polytechnic. But if you're still unsure, but know roughly you're interested in the Arts or Science career paths, then go to a JC.

Unfortunately for my thinking though, having recently been judged as to have entered a polytechnic due to my inability to enter a JC. I never knew that sort of thinking still existed. The last I checked, the entry score to the exact course I did, is a score of 10 points. Assuming the student scores a C6 and below for the last subect taken into consideration for entry into a JC, the student will still be eligible.

Sometimes, I really wonder, must the debate between a JC and polytechnic choice be about academic prowess? (at least judging from the recent trend in recent years)

Anyway, that aside, I better start hitting my books!

PS: Get Well soon Tan Wen! =)
